as far as i can tell from poking around there seems to be a mix of the faithful, the inactive, and the disfellowshiped (like myself).

Dave, you cant be serious. You would have remained a JW to "keep contact" with your in-laws? It seems to me that you have the perfect excuse to do what almost every married person I know craves within the depths of their soul, to avoid or be shunned by their in-laws. Now I have a pretty good relationship with mine but how many people do you know that complain about in-laws? LOL
i dont know the hebrew word for fake love....but this is the love that i have seen over and over again.. last year my nephew married a sister from our hall.
this young man is a good hearted person and saved himself for marraige.
looking back now in hindsight, i dont think this sister was a virgin but i think she pretended as though she was one.
The elder responded by saying, "well since your wife is baptized, its uuuuummm going to hard to find a sister who will study with her.....ummmm, because you know they wont be able to count their time. I'll see what I can do."Well, the elder never got back with him,
Just another example of an unqualified individual assuming a leadership position and giving terrible advice, or worse yet not taking any action at all. Typical JW BS.

our 15 year old dog died this afternoon..............with assistance from a veterinarian friend of rachel's (princess).
she was old, sick, and with multiple health issues.
it was a really hard decision, but the vet really helped ease my mind, by assuring me it was time.
Im sorry. My sister and brother-in-law just put down a dog. They're devistated as well.
i'd like to find out what's happening with someone still 'in'.
they last went to a congregation in grand rapids.
prefer not to explain my relationship to them, as that would probably give me away.

have any of you, and i'm sure you have, noticed two distinct personalities to the jw.
one that tows the company line so to speak and the other, the real person asserting their true self?
Although I have never really researched this, I know that as a kid I had at least three personas. I had a JW personality, an around the house family personality, and then there was the at school with friends don't give a sh!t personality.

i dont think disfellowshipment itself is wrong, its the enforced shunning that causes the damage.
i think a lot of posters here agree.
personally i think the public reproof is just sick and when a person is marked!.
What rite does the WBTS have to disipline a JW?

a 16 year old student that is a jw answers the question of why do they not celebrate any holidays with the following: .
"basically, we don't celebrate anything that the bible does not tell us to celebrate.".
You've got to cut the poor kid some slack. He was probably outnumbered or surrounded by non believers and felt on the spot. You can be rest assured that my responses to such questions were less than persuasive as well.
